Mr. Karan Thapar, aged 66 years, is a Chartered Accountant.   He has been on the
Board of various Group Companies for more than 35 years.  He has the experience
of managing companies public and private having interest in diversified areas viz.
manufacturing, mining, investment, engineering goods, etc.   He joined the Board of
EICL Limited in the year 1990.  At present he is the Chairman of EICL Limited,
Greaves Cotton Ltd. and Premium Transmission Pvt. Ltd.
